š§ The #1 Rule: Less Water, More Consistency!
ā Orchids only need 1/4 cup of water per week.
ā Stick to a strict schedule ā pick a day and write it down.
š Example Watering Schedule (Tuesdays):
ā 2/18/25 ā 1/4 cup water
ā 2/25/25 ā 1/4 cup water
ā 3/4/25 ā 1/4 cup water
ā 3/11/25 ā 1/4 cup water + 1 drop fertilizer š±
š Repeat the pattern!
š Pro Tip: Automate reminders on your phone š² or keep a physical note!
š« What NOT to Do! (Avoid These Orchid Mistakes!)
ā Donāt wash the entire plant just because the leaves look dusty.
ā Donāt submerge the whole pot in waterāthis can cause root rot.
ā Donāt overwater! Even if the soil looks dry, stick to the schedule.
ā Ignore viral hacks like garlic water, tying up a half apple š, or other āroot rescues.ā If itās dying, itās probably too late. š¬
āļø Light & Placement: Where Should Orchids Go?
š” Place near a window for natural light.
š Mine faces northeast and sits on a homemade flower board in the kitchen.
š Keep it 3-6 inches from the window for ideal light exposure.
š± Whatās Okay to Do? (Things That Help!)
ā Repot when necessary ā If roots are exploding out of the container, move to a bigger one!
ā Trim bad roots and refresh the soil occasionally.
